In 2007, after hearing Eddie Izzard talk about performing in Paris in front of a French crowd and the fact that the British comedian planned to learn German so he could perform in Berlin, Mike Ward decided to try his hand at English comedy.

"Izzard loves comedy so much, he's willing to learn a new language. I might not love it that much, but I do like it enough to translate a couple of dick jokes,” laughed Ward.

So he tried it as a lark ; his first performance was at a “Best of the Fest” show during the Just For Laugh's Festival in the summer of 2007.

Being the lone Canadian alongside comics from Scotland, Australia, England and the U.S., everyone expected him to bomb, but history will remember the mind-blowing performance that proved what Eddie Izzard already knew : funny is funny.

If you're funny in French, you're going to be funny in English ; if you're funny in English, you're going be funny in German ; and if you're funny in German, well, you'll probably get shot.

Seriously, Mike Ward is funny and brutally honest. He isn't afraid to challenge taboos even if it means receiving the odd death threat. What he does is smart, edgy and topical. He leaves everything on the stage like someone who's just starting out, but is as solid as the veteran that he is in the French comedy world. There's a reason this guy has been at the top of his game for over ten years.

In August 2008, he performed an outdoor one-man comedy show in French in Quebec City before an audience of 7000 ; two days later, he headlined in Montreal before an audience of 9…and only 2 people paid for their tickets !

Mike does comedy for all the right reasons : he loves it and he's good at it.

A FIGURIN-O-RAMA SHOW !

“The Wireless” (“Les Sansfil” in French) is an animation show that showcases a regular, run-of-the-mill doll family ; and by regular, we mean “dysfunctional”. A loudmouth, lazy father, a neurotic, bipolar mother, a smart, but gullible son, a retard daughter (yes, we said retard) and a best friend/neighbour in the form of an elephant. All these colourful characters pursue one goal : to live their lives to the fullest because, sooner or later, they will all be put out to pasture, i.e. put on a dark shelf in the basement or, worse, on the bottom shelf of the toy closet at the local kindergarten, only to be abused by sick, spoiled, snot-nosed brats !

Although the series could be seen as Canada's answer to South Park and Team America , it actually captures a bold new universe that will be filmed in our patent-pending FIGURIN-O-RAMA©, a unique, simple and exciting new way to create images or, put differently, a poor man's stop-motion animation.

Nothing comes close to “The Wireless” when it comes to transforming ordinary life problems into adventures of biblical proportions. This dysfunctional family may be called upon to thwart an international terrorism plot, an assassination attempt on the Pope or a character assassination on the NHL !

Of course, if these lifeless dolls do manage to save the world, it won't be because they intended to.

Mirador

MIRADOR est un cabinet de relations publiques d'envergure où travaille un bataillon de professionnels en relations publiques qui ont tout intérêt à ce que la seule vérité connue et diffusée soit celle de leurs clients. Ils doivent s'assurer, jour après jour, de contrôler le message… Mais quand ça dérape, quand un scandale éclate, qu'on ne contrôle plus le « spin » et que la tempête médiatique fait rage, on fait appel à une équipe bien particulière au sein de MIRADOR : l'équipe de gestion de crise, pilotée par le héros, Philippe Racine (Patrick Labbé).

Chaque épisode met en scène un scandale. Philippe et son équipe reçoivent le difficile mandat de redorer l'image ternie du client, de lui faire gagner, contre vents et marées, le procès de l'opinion publique en utilisant tout l'arsenal dont disposent les firmes de relations publiques modernes. Pendant ce temps, Philippe est à un point tournant de sa vie : il cherche désespérément à donner un sens à ce qu'il fait.

Radio-Canada est très fière d'être associée au développement de cette série et maintenant à sa production. Dans un monde où le cynisme est roi, MIRADOR, c'est d'abord et avant tout l'histoire d'un homme qui tente d'agir moralement selon sa conscience.

La série comprend 10 épisodes de 60 minutes et la diffusion est prévue en 2010.

The Wireless (Les Sansfil in French) is an animation show that showcases an ordinary, run-around the mill, regular doll family and by that we mean that they are regularly « dysfunctional ». A loudmouth lazy father, a neurotic bipolar mother, a smart but gullible son, a retard (yes, we said retard) and a best friend/neighbor who's an elephant. All these colorful characters have only one goal : live their life to the MAX because sooner or later they will be put into retirement i.e. a dark shelf in the basement or even worse the bottom shelf in the toy closet in the closest kindergarten to be abused by sick, snot- nosed eros-ridden spoilt brats !

Although this series can be seen as Canada's answer to South Park and Team America , it's a bold new original universe that will be filmed in our patent pending FIGURIN-O-RAMA©, a unique, simple and exciting new way to create images or, put differently, a poor man's stop-motion animation.

No one can match The Wireless when it comes to transforming ordinary life problems into biblical adventures. Because of this innate talent they will find themselves involved in international terrorism, an assassination attempt on the pope and a character assassination in the NHL !
